Rajouri, Jul 3: As many as 64 patients from Sakri village have been hospitalized with gastroenteritis and diarrhea over the past six days, raising serious health concerns in the village, located 28 kilometers from Rajouri district headquarters.
Last Friday, the cases of Gastroenteritis and Diarrhea were reported for the first time after which these cases are being reported with each passing day.
As per official details available with Greater Kashmir, 64 patients have been hospitalised since Friday while two deaths were reported as well.
Also a woman, who was discharged two days ago from GMC Jammu after suffering with diarrhea, died suspected due to multiple organ involvement.
Official figures reveal that out of 64 cases, six patients are being treated at Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu including three patients diagnosed with multiple health issues.
Also, nine patients are under treatment in GMC Associated Hospital Rajouri while five patients returned from hospitals without taking discharge.
Around 42 patients have been discharged from different hospitals including GMC Jammu, GMC Associated Hospital Rajouri and from a temporary hospital established at High School Sakri.
The woman, Kamlesh Devi, wife of Hardev Singh resident of Dhar Sakri was earlier hospitalised in GMC Rajouri and later referred to GMC Jammu where she remained under treatment for two day.
She was discharged on last Monday after which she developed some sudden medical complications on Thursday and was taken to GMC Jammu for treatment. However, she passed away on Thursday morning.
The situation has sparked serious health concerns among locals, who are alarmed by the rising cases of gastroenteritis and diarrhea and are calling for immediate specialized medical assistance.
“We demand authorities to rope in a team of experts from specialised hospitals to cope up with the situation and ensure immediate aid of patients,” said Retired Army Captain, Baldev Singh.
