
SRINAGAR: Police in Baramulla arrested four individuals and recovered a substantial quantity of contraband during a checkpoint operation at Ogmuna in the Kunzer area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Acting on specific and credible inputs, a police team established a checkpoint at Ogmuna. During checking, four individuals approaching the area from Karhama towards Ogmuna were observed moving suspiciously. On noticing the police presence, they attempted to flee but were tactfully intercepted and apprehended.
The arrested persons were identified as Mohd Amin Rather, son of Abdul Khaliq Rather of Karhama; Furqan Ahmad Lone, son of Manzoor Ahmad Lone of Mirchipora, Tangmarg; Mohd Saleem Lone, son of Ghulam Nabi Lone of Mirchipora, Tangmarg; and Maroof Ahmad Bhat, son of Bashir Ahmad Bhat of Pandithpora Bala.
During the search, police recovered a substantial quantity of contraband from their possession.
All four were taken into custody, and a case under FIR No. 08/2026 has been registered at Police Station Kunzer under relevant sections of law. Further investigation is underway.
Police said the drive forms part of ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in the district and appealed to the public to cooperate by sharing information related to narcotics and other criminal activities.
