
Jammu, Mar 8: The former DGP inaugurated the 2nd All India Police Kabaddi Cluster 2025–26 at the historic Maulana Azad Stadium on Sunday. The sporting event, as per an official police statement, is being organised by Jammu and Kashmir Police at various venues across Jammu from March 7th to March 12th, 2026, bringing together police sportspersons from across the country on a common platform.
The tournament is being organised under the supervision of Anand Jain, IPS, ADG Armed J&K, who is serving as the Organising Secretary of the event.
The Kabaddi Cluster will feature competitions in four disciplines—Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Fencing, and Gymnastics, highlighting the athletic excellence, discipline, and team spirit of police personnel from across India.
A total of 1,648 athletes are participating in the tournament, including 1071 men and 577 women. In addition, team managers, technical officials, NADA officials, and representatives from the All-India Police Sports Control Board are also attending the event. Overall participation stands at 1798, making it one of the largest police sporting events in the country.
Teams from various Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) are taking part in the competition, including the Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force, Shastra Seema Bal, Central Industrial Security Force, Assam Rifles, Railway Protection Force and Indo-Tibetan Border Police. Teams representing all State and Union Territory Police organisations are also participating in the tournament.
The event aims to promote sportsmanship, physical fitness, and camaraderie among police personnel, while strengthening coordination and bonding among various security forces of the country. It also provides an important platform for police athletes to showcase their sporting talent and competitive spirit at the national level.
Ashok Bhan, former DGP, stated that the inauguration of the Kabaddi Cluster on International Women’s Day (8th March) holds special significance. He appreciated the enthusiastic participation of Police & CAPF Sport especially Women personnel, noting that their presence reflects the growing empowerment and vital role of women in the Police and Central Armed Police Forces. Sh. Bhan extended his warm greetings and appreciation to all women participants for their dedication and sporting excellence.
Among others present on the occasion were M.K. Sinha, IPS, ADGP Hqrs; Gareeb Dass, IPS, Director SKPA Udhampur; Nitish Kumar, IPS, ADGP CID J&K; B.S. Tuti, IPS, IGP Jammu Zone; Uttam Chand, IPS, IGP Hqrs; Suleiman Choudhary, IPS, IGP Traffic J&K; and Vivek Gupta, IPS, IGP Traffic J&K. All DIGs of Jammu Zone, District SSPs of Jammu Zone, AIGsP, Commandants of Jammu-based battalions, and other senior officers were also present on the occasion.
