Kupwara: The Food and Civil Supplies Employees Association (FCSEA), Kupwara, on Wednesday met the Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs (FCS & CA) Satish Sharma and Advisor to Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, and submitted a detailed memorandum highlighting long-pending service-related and operational issues of the department and its employees.

The delegation was led by Chairman, North Kashmir, Gulzar Sogami, and District Vice President, Bilal Ahmad Reshi, along with other association members.

During the meeting, the Association raised several key demands, including the removal of pay disparities among employees, enhancement of loading and unloading rates, effective measures to prevent foodgrain wastage, and streamlining of overall departmental functioning. The delegation also sought the grant of Technical Grade to Storekeepers (SKs) and Assistant Storekeepers (ASKs), construction of departmental offices, and provision of adequate stationery, furniture, and modern infrastructure.

The employees further emphasized the need for upgraded Point of Sale (POS) and digital weighing machines with free maintenance support. Special emphasis was laid on the continuation of offline POS devices in border and far-flung areas such as Karnah, Machil, Keran, and other remote locations, where internet connectivity remains unreliable, to ensure uninterrupted ration distribution to the public.

Nasir Aslam Wani patiently heard the concerns raised by the delegation and assured them that the genuine demands would be examined sympathetically and taken up for early and favorable resolution.
