Srinagar: Peoples Conference chairman and MLA Handwara Sajad Gani Lone on Friday accused the ruling National Conference (NC) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of striking a “fixed match” in the Rajya Sabha elections, shortly after results showed NC winning three seats and BJP securing one.
Lone, who is an elected MLA but abstained from voting, wrote on X that the numbers themselves raise suspicion about coordination between the two parties.
“So BJP wins the fourth seat. As predicted fixed match. Axis of the evil. NC and BJP,” he wrote. He added that his decision not to vote prevented him from facing any embarrassment, writing, “Thank God I abstained. Imagine what my plight would have been.”
Lone questioned why the NC polled 31 votes for its third candidate when, according to him, only 28 or 29 would have been sufficient. He asked who cross-voted, whose ballots were rejected, and “who was hand in glove,” arguing that it was now “mathematically proved” that the exercise lacked transparency.
