
SRINAGAR: The first-ever foodgrain freight train of the Food Corporation of India on Sunday reached the Anantnag Goods Terminal, marking a major boost to food security and logistics in Kashmir.
Depot Manager FCI Kashmir, KL Mina, stated that the train from Punjab carried approximately 1,384 tonnes of food grains in 21 wagons.
He said that 21 wagons reached today and 42 will arrive soon. “Around 1,300 metric tonnes of rice arrived today. The remaining 42 wagons will carry 2,600 MT of rice, which is equivalent to 110 trucks.”
He said that earlier the supply took much more time from Punjab, but now it will save time and resources, which he said is beneficial for the country. (KNO)
