SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Finance Department has extended the deadline for submission of Life Certificates or Digital Life Certificates by pensioners and family pensioners till December 15, 25, calling it the final opportunity to meet the annual requirement.

Under the Treasury Code, all pensioners drawing benefits through banks and treasuries must submit their Life Certificate every November to ensure uninterrupted pension disbursement and verification of beneficiaries.

To ease the process this year, the Finance Department, in collaboration with Jammu and Kashmir Bank Limited, launched a special campaign for generating Digital Life Certificates. Officials said that out of nearly 2.5 lakh pensioners in Jammu and Kashmir, around 1.80 lakh have already submitted their certificates either physically or digitally.

However, approximately 70,000 pensioners are yet to complete the formalities, which could render them ineligible to receive pension from November 25 onward if they fail to comply.

To prevent inconvenience, the department has extended the deadline to December 15, 25, with a clear warning that no further relaxation will be granted. Pensioners and family pensioners have been advised to submit their Life Certificate, preferably in digital mode, to their respective bank or treasury before the deadline.

The circular states that failure to meet the deadline will result in the stoppage of pension payments from December 25 onward. The order was issued by the Director General, Accounts and Treasuries, Finance Department, and dated November 26, 25.

Officials have urged all remaining pensioners to complete the process at the earliest to avoid disruption in pension payments.
