
SRINAGAR: Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo on Friday conducted a detailed inspection of ongoing fencing works along historic Old City bridges and allied upgradation projects in the Shahr-e-Khaas area, reaffirming the administration’s focus on pedestrian safety and urban infrastructure development.
During the visit, the DC was accompanied by Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Superintending Engineer R and B Shabir Ahmad, Executive Engineer R and B Arif Hazari, Tehsildar South Sajad Rasool Shah, and other concerned officials.
The Deputy Commissioner reviewed the progress of fencing work along the bridges at Old Zainakadal, Aali Kadal, and New Zaina Kadal over the River Jhelum. Officials informed that the works are in an advanced stage and nearing completion, aimed at enhancing pedestrian safety and preventing accidents in high-density areas.
The DC directed the executing agencies to ensure strict adherence to quality standards and timelines, stressing precision, durability, and coordinated execution. He instructed that the works be completed within one week.
He also reviewed ongoing road repair and upgradation works in areas including Bulbul Lanker, directing authorities to expedite progress while minimizing inconvenience to the public.
Reiterating that pedestrian safety remains a top priority, the DC said all major works are being executed in a coordinated manner and will be completed at the earliest.
