Srinagar, Feb 23: Apni Party Senior Leader and Media Advisor Farooq Andrabi has urged the government to hand over the construction of the main bridge in Chadoora to the Army’s engineering unit for its swift and durable completion.
Pertinently, the government declared this crucial bridge in Chadoora, Budgam, unsafe after it sustained damage in recent flash floods.
In his statement, Andrabi said, “After the main bridge in Chadoora was declared unsafe, traffic has been diverted to an alternative route that is in deplorable condition, causing hardship to commuters. It is of utmost importance that the construction of the bridge be taken up on a war footing to alleviate public inconvenience. I have said it earlier, and I will say it again: the best way to ensure the swift and durable construction of the bridge is to hand over the project to the Army’s engineering unit.” Andrabi said that people—particularly patients, students, and the elderly—are facing immense hardship following the closure of the bridge to traffic.
