Jammu, Feb 23: Displaying their vigilance and promptness, ticket checking staff of Jammu Railway Division on Monday apprehended a fake Train Ticket Examiner (TTE), illegally checking tickets on Shri Mata Vaishnodevi Katra-Hapa SF Express and handed him over to the Police.

Public Relations Inspector, Jammu Railway Division, Raghvender Singh stated that the incident occurred today, February 23, during routine ticket checking between Jammu and Kathua.

“While conducting routine ticket checking on the Jammu station, Shekhar Kumar, ticket checking staff at Jammu station, was checking train number 12476 between Jammu and Kathua when he noticed a suspicious person, dressed in full ticket-checking uniform, checking tickets. Shekhar Kumar questioned the suspicious ticket checking staff, but the person was unable to provide satisfactory answers,” Singh said.

During the investigation, according to Singh, his (accused’s) official identity card was also found to be fake.

Following it, the ticket checking staff handed over the fake ticket checker to the Kathua GRP. The GRP has registered a case and initiated an investigation into the fake documents recovered from the accused,” Singh informed.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Uchit Singhal, commended the staff for their vigilance. He stated, “Passenger safety and protection of their rights are the Railways’ priority.”

Singhal urged passengers to always travel with valid tickets and immediately inform the officials or the Railway Helpline number 139 if they found any suspicious person checking their tickets or demanding a fine.

“The Railway Administration is fully committed to ensuring passenger safety and transparent travel,” he said.
