SRINAGAR: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of the Crime Branch Kashmir (CBK) has filed a chargesheet in a fake job scam case in which a complainant was allegedly cheated of lakhs of rupees on the false promise of securing government employment.

The chargesheet has been submitted before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Budgam, in connection with FIR No. 13/2023 registered under Section 420 of the Indian Penal Code against Ghulam Nabi Hudda, son of Mohammad Hudda, a resident of Satakchay, Kargil, presently residing at Gasiyar Hawal, Zadibal, Srinagar.

According to the prosecution, the case stems from a written complaint alleging that in 2021 the complainant came into contact with the accused, who introduced himself as a senior government officer and claimed to have the influence to arrange government jobs in return for money.

Believing these assurances, the complainant reportedly transferred lakhs of rupees into the accused’s bank account in nine separate instalments. Despite repeated follow-ups, the accused allegedly failed to secure the promised employment or return the money, thereby defrauding the complainant.

Following receipt of the complaint, Crime Branch Kashmir conducted a detailed investigation. The EOW stated that the allegations were found to be prima facie substantiated and that the accused had deliberately deceived the complainant, causing wrongful financial loss.

The investigation concluded that the acts of the accused disclosed the commission of an offence punishable under Section 420 IPC. Subsequently, upon completion of the probe, the chargesheet was filed before the competent court for judicial adjudication.
