SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Civil Engineering Graduates Association (JKCEGA) on Thursday expressed its profound gratitude to the state administration for the issuance of long-pending placement orders for Engineers at the Superintending Engineer and Executive Engineer levels in the Public Works (R&B) and Mechanical departments.

In a statement issued by the association, the JKCEGA thanked Hon’ble Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Public Works and Mechanical Engineering Surinder Kumar Choudhary, and Principal Secretary, PWD (R&B) and Mechanical, Anil Kumar Singh (IAS), for what it called a “timely and commendable” decision that addresses critical staffing gaps in the department.

“These promotions will enhance continuity in planning, execution, and supervision of vital infrastructure and public service projects across Jammu & Kashmir,” the statement read, adding that the move is expected to boost departmental efficiency, reduce delays, and ensure smoother delivery of services on the ground.

Er Farooq Ahamed Ganie, President of JKCEGA, reaffirmed the association’s support for the government’s developmental agenda, stating that JKCEGA remains committed to transparent and accountable collaboration in building a well-structured public works framework.

In a joint statement, the Civil-Mechanical Coordination Committee of JKCEGA and JKMEGA also welcomed the move and appealed to the administration to expedite the filling of remaining vacancies at the Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) and Assistant Engineer (AE) levels. They emphasised the importance of adhering to existing seniority lists in both Civil and Mechanical engineering cadres.
