Encounter Breaks Out in JK’s Udhampur

SRINAGAR: An encounter broke out between security forces and militants in the Basantgarh area of Udhampur in Jammu division on Thursday morning.

A senior police officer said that following specific input about suspicious movement, a cordon-and-search operation was launched in the area.

During the operation, the search team came under fire, leading to a gunfight. A heavy exchange of fire is currently underway.
