Officials told Alfaaz – The Words that a Hyundai Venue bearing registration number JK01AQ-9452, driven by one Fareed Ahmad Mir, a resident of Gagal, was travelling from Wavoora towards Kupwara when the driver purportedly lost control near the main chowk at Wavoora. “The vehicle subsequently collided with a roadside tree.”

In the incident, the officials said, five persons sustained injuries, including Gh. Nabi Mir (65), Saleem Ahmad Mir (55), Mukti Begum (70), and Husna Begum (65), all residents of Gagal.

The injured were immediately shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Sogam and Kupwara for treatment. However, Gh. Nabi Mir succumbed to his injuries at SDH Kupwara.

“Police have taken cognisance of the incident, and a case has been registered, and further investigation is underway,” the officials added.
