Elderly man, 70, shoots self dead with 12-bore gun at home

Rajouri, Aug 19: A 70-year-old man allegedly ended his life by shooting himself with a 12-bore gun in Sunderbani area of Rajouri district on Tuesday, officials said.

The deceased has been identified as Pritam Dass, son of Mansa Ram, a resident of Hilla village.

According to officials, he shot himself at his home in Renthal village with his licensed 12-bore gun.

Family members rushed him to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Sunderbani, where doctors declared him dead.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident, registered a case, and initiated further investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to the extreme step. [KNT]
