Eight-Year-Old Driving E-Rickshaw Dies in Road Accident | Kashmir Life

SRINAGAR: An eight-year-old child was killed in a road accident involving an e-rickshaw in the Barshala area of Doda district, officials said on Sunday.

According to officials, the minor was driving the e-rickshaw when it met with an accident in the area. Another child was also on board the vehicle at the time of the mishap.

The deceased has been identified as Karan, a resident of Barshala. He sustained critical injuries in the accident and died on the spot, officials said, adding that another child sustained injuries; however, he is stated to be stable.

Police reached the scene soon after the incident and took cognisance of the matter. The body was shifted for the necessary medico-legal formalities.

Officials said a case has been registered and further investigation has been initiated to ascertain the exact circumstances that led to the accident.

The incident has triggered concern over minors operating vehicles and road safety in rural areas. [KNT]
