The accused, identified as Khalid Sahani, son of Farooq Sahani, a resident of Reshi Mohalla, Khar Doori, Shaheed Gunj, Srinagar, had been evading arrest since 2021. A warrant under Section 512 of the CrPC had been issued by the Court of Judicial Magistrate 1st Class, Vailoo, District Anantnag, on December 3, 2021, in connection with FIR No. 38/2018 registered under Sections 419 and 420 of the RPC at Police Station Crime Branch Kashmir.

Acting on credible intelligence, the Economic Offences Wing arrested Sahani on October 10, 2025. He was produced before the court on Friday, which remanded him to judicial custody and directed that he be lodged at Central Jail Srinagar.

The arrest brings closure to a long-pending case involving financial fraud, marking a significant success for the Crime Branch in its ongoing crackdown on economic offenders.

A senior official from the Crime Branch stated that the unit remains “steadfast in its resolve to bring to justice those who exploit the public through deceit and financial crimes.”

The agency reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing offenders relentlessly, underscoring that “no one can escape the reach of law, regardless of how long they manage to evade arrest.”
