DYSS launches youth engagement programme in Srinagar

Srinagar, Jan 9: As part of the Youth Engagement Programme designed by the Directorate of Youth Services and Sports (DYSSO), J&K, the District Youth Services and Sports Office Srinagar has launched the Youth Engagement Initiative 2025–26 across all eight sports zones of the district.

The initiative, as per DYSS statement, aims to promote a healthy and active society through widespread participation in sports activities.

The programme was formally launched from Zone Gulab Bagh, where girls of the zone participated enthusiastically in various athletic events including sprints, shot put and discus throw. The event witnessed overwhelming participation and generated keen interest among the youth.

Another activity under the initiative was conducted at Fisherman Park, Habak, where a large number of senior citizens and locals from the vicinity also gathered to witness the event, reflecting strong community involvement.

On the occasion, a pledge against drug abuse was also administered, reinforcing the social objective of the programme.

The events were supervised and monitored by the Zonal Physical Education Officer (ZPEO), Gulab Bagh, Shabir Ahmad Mir, along with his team. Medals were distributed among the participants to encourage and motivate them.

The Youth Engagement Initiative is expected to play a vital role in channelising the energy of youth towards constructive activities and fostering a culture of fitness and discipline across Srinagar district.
