Srinagar, Mar 06: The Kashmir Valley is likely to continue facing dry weather conditions for another two weeks, as no major wet spell is expected until at least March 18, the Meteorological Department said on Friday.

Director Meteorological Department, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, said that Kashmir experienced an unprecedented dry spell throughout February, which has persisted into the first week of March.

“The weather remained dry throughout February, and the dry spell is continuing in the first week of March as well,” Dr. Mukhtar said.

He said that despite the prolonged dryness, both day and night temperatures are expected to remain moderate in the coming days. However, the MeT chief added that although there is a possibility of very light precipitation in mountainous areas after March 7, it will not be significant enough to break the prevailing dry pattern.

“In the coming days, there is a possibility of light snowfall in the mountainous areas. However, overall, no significant wet spell or rain-snow is forecast until March 18,” he added. (KNS)
