Drug peddler’s property worth Rs 1.10 Cr attached in Poonch

According to the Police, the case pertains to FIR No 178/2025 registered at Police Station Poonch under sections 8/21/22/29 of the NDPS Act, 1985 and Section 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against Mohammad Iqbal, son of Ghulam Nabi, resident of Seri Khawaja, at present Kamsar in Poonch.

“The property, earlier seized under Section 68(F) of the NDPS Act, stands in the name of the accused’s wife Shahnaz Kouser and comprises a three-storey building under construction, measuring 10 marlas, falling under Khasra No 2093, situated at Kamsar, with an assessed value of Rs 1.10 crore (approximately),” Police said.

The confirmation order under Section 68(F)(2) of the NDPS Act has been issued by the competent authority and administrator under SAFEMA (Smugglers and Foreign Exchange Manipulators (Forfeiture of Property) Act), Ministry of Finance, Government of India, thereby legally affirming the attachment of the property, said Police.

The detailed financial investigation in the case was carried out by the Station House Officer, Police Station Poonch, Inspector Sachinder Pal Singh, which led to the identification and attachment of the proceeds of crime generated through illicit narcotics trade.

“This decisive action underscores the resolve of Police in Poonch to strike at the financial backbone of drug trafficking networks and ensure that proceeds generated through narcotics trade are seized and forfeited strictly in accordance with law,” Police said, while reiterating unwavering commitment to eliminate the menace of drugs from society.

The Police also appealed to the people to share any credible information related to drug peddling or illicit narcotics activities. “The identity of informants shall be kept strictly confidential,” it added.
