
SRINAGAR: Police in Budgam district of central Kashmir have arrested a man and seized 31.93 grams of a charas-like substance during a checkpoint operation, officials said.
A team from Jammu and Kashmir Police at Police Station Budgam intercepted the suspect at Bathar crossing near the Railway Footbridge. He was identified as Rayees Ahmad Mir, a resident of Mohanpora Ompora, Budgam. The substance was recovered from his possession, wrapped in a corn husk.
Police registered FIR No. 35/2026 under relevant legal provisions at Police Station Budgam and initiated an investigation.
The police urged the public to share information related to drug trafficking.
