Jammu, Jul 6: BJP National General Secretary and party incharge for J&K Tarun Chugh today said that Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee’s legacy unified the nation.

According to a press release, he was addressing a function, organised to pay rich tributes to Dr Syama Prasad Mookerjee, on his birth anniversary, here. Speaking on the occasion, Tarun Chugh hailed Dr Mookerjee as a committed nationalist and visionary who selflessly dedicated his life to the service of the nation. He highlighted his pivotal role during the partition in protecting vast regions of Bengal and Punjab and saving countless.

“Dr Mookerjee strongly objected to the Nehru-Liaquat pact and warned about the safety of minorities in Pakistan, where their population drastically declined over the decades. Had Nehru acted wisely, innumerable lives of minorities could have been saved,” Chugh said. He also drew parallels between the ideological stance of Dr Mookerjee and Dr B R Ambedkar, both of whom resigned from Nehru’s cabinet due to their dissatisfaction with his policies.
