
Kupwara: Continuing the ongoing SEWA PARV–2025 celebrations, the Forest Department Kupwara in collaboration with allied wings and institutions organized a series of plantation, cleanliness, and awareness drives across the district, reinforcing the commitment towards environmental protection.
At Women’s Degree College Kupwara, a massive plantation and cleanliness program was organized jointly by Kamraj Forest Division, Social Forestry Kupwara, Forest Protection Force Kupwara, and Municipal Council Kupwara. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from staff and students, followed by an awareness session in the conference hall where the significance of a clean environment and the vital role of women in safeguarding nature were emphasized.
In South Lolab Range, an awareness-cum-cleanliness drive was carried out at Kailwan Park, Dorsa Block, with the active involvement of Social Forestry, FPF personnel, and school children. In Machil Range, a plantation drive was carried out in Compartment 30/MTL (CAMPA Closure), adding momentum to the district-wide green campaign.
A plantation drive was also conducted at Rest House Harwan, led by officials of Kandi Range Bomai in collaboration with FPF staff. Similarly, a cleanliness drive was organized at Chinar Bagh, Mazbug Sopore.
The Soil & Water Conservation Division Kupwara conducted plantation drives at Hill Grange Institute, Handwara, and at Children’s Park, Handwara, engaging youth and local stakeholders to promote sustainable green spaces.
Under the banner of SEWA PARV, two special events were held in Kehmil Forest Division – a plastic-free environment awareness program at GMS Pazipora (Nahiaihri Forest Range) and a plastic-free environment drive in Karnah Range. Both witnessed enthusiastic participation of Forest Territorial staff, Forest Protection Force, Social Forestry personnel, and school students.
Through these coordinated initiatives, the Forest Department and its allied wings are taking the SEWA PARV message to grassroots, fostering community participation in building a cleaner and greener Kupwara.
