Lolab (Kupwara): A Block Diwas programme was held at Government Higher Secondary School Lalpora on Thursday, bringing senior district and block level officers face to face with residents to address public grievances and developmental concerns.
The programme was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse. Chief Planning Officer Parvaiz Ahmad, ACD Kupwara Arshad Qadir Bhat,Executive Engineer R&B Hilal Abbasi, Chief Education Officer Kupwara, Chief Medical Officer Kupwara Dr Zaffar Ahmad, Sub Divisional Magistrate Lolab Mudasir Ahmad, Block Development Officer Sogam Abdul Rashid, and other officials. Public representatives, including Advocate Dawood Bashir Bhat and Dr Mudasir Ahmad Shah, were also present.
A large number of people from various villages of the block participated in the programme and raised their issues directly before the Deputy Commissioner. The initiative served as a key outreach platform for grievance redressal and public interaction.
During the programme, the Deputy Commissioner listened to the grievances and issued on the spot directions to the concerned departments for timely resolution. Among the key decisions taken were approval for a uninterrupted power facility for PHC Lalpora, installation of a borewell at Government Higher Secondary School Lalpora, and directions for execution of several other development works.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed the Block Development Officer to ensure proper maintenance of playgrounds across the area. He also directed concerned departments to undertake dredging of water bodies, including nallahs and ponds, with special emphasis on Dahgam Khul. He cautioned officials against delays and stressed that negligence would invite strict action.
All departments were directed to ensure close monitoring, timely execution, and quality implementation of sanctioned works.
Later, the Deputy Commissioner inspected ITI Lalpora,High School and PHC Lalpora. He reviewed the functioning of these institutions and assessed the facilities being provided to the public.
Local residents welcomed the initiative and expressed satisfaction over the grievance redressal process. Many stated that a majority of the issues raised during the programme were resolved on the spot and hoped that the remaining cases would be addressed without delay.
