DGP visits Poonch, reviews preparedness of Budha Amarnath Yatra

Poonch, Jul 21: Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat arrived on a visit to Rajouri district on Monday to take stock of preparedness for the upcoming Budha Amarnath Yatra.

The annual yatra is set to start on July 27 and will last for 11 days.

On Monday, the DGP Prabhat arrived in Poonch.

He was accompanied by Special Director General of J&K Police, Javaid Geelani, Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Bhim Sen Tuti, and Inspector General of CRPF, Gopal K Rao. The Police chief arrived at Surankote sub-division, where he reviewed the security scenario, followed by his visit to Budha Amarnath Temple.

The DGP later chaired a high-level meeting with officers of the Police and Army, including General Officer Commanding (GoC) Counter Insurgency Force, Romeo, paramilitary forces, and other central agencies.

During this meeting, a detailed review of security arrangements and the security plan for the upcoming yatra was discussed with all the stakeholders, putting forth their points that were thoroughly discussed.

A multi-layered security cover would remain in place for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the yatra, and heavy deployment of forces is being made.
