DC Ganderbal launches HPV Vaccination Campaign at District Hospital

Srinagar, Feb 28: The Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Vaccination Campaign was today formally launched at District Hospital Ganderbal by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Ganderbal, Jatin Kishore.

The campaign was launched as part of the nationwide rollout of the programme inaugurated by Hon’ble Prime Minister from Rajasthan. This program marks a significant step towards protecting adolescent girls from cervical cancer, which is the second most common cancer among women in India and is often caused by persistent infection with the Human Papillomavirus (HPV).

Speaking on the occasion, the DC highlighted the importance of preventive healthcare and said that vaccination remains one of the most effective ways to safeguard the health and future of young girls. He urged parents, guardians and community leaders to actively support the campaign and ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive the vaccine within the stipulated timeframe.

Chief Medical Officer Ganderbal informed that all necessary preparatory measures have been completed to ensure smooth implementation of the programme.
