Rajouri, Mar 10: An unidentified terrorist was killed by Indian Army after it foiled an infiltration attempt on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jhangar forward area of Nowshera sector in Rajouri in Pir Panjal region.

A counter terror operation is presently underway at the location with security forces having suspicion of presence of another terrorist who could be in injured condition.

In an official statement, the Army said that acting on credible intelligence inputs by the intelligence agencies, movement of two terrorists was detected in the general area of Jhangar in Nowshera sector of LoC in Rajouri.

The movement was picked up at around 3 pm on Tuesday, the Army said.

It said that soon after intersecting this suspicious movement, the Indian Army troops responded with swift and calibrated combat action, and the alert troops of White Knight Corps of Indian Army engaged swiftly, successfully foiling the infiltration attempt.

The Army said that in the ensuing engagement, a Pakistan-sponsored terrorist had been eliminated there by denying any breach of LoC.

“Troops have been reoriented to search for the second terrorist and to ensure relentless domination of the area supported by the integrated ground and ariel surveillance,” the Army said. “A robust operational posture and heightened alertness continues across the sector.”

Official sources said that a group of terrorists, believed to be two to four in number, was present at the forward location in front of the LoC and made this Infiltration attempt which had been successfully foiled.

They said that the troops of Jhangar Battalion of the Army successfully thwarted the attempt and now the area had been cordoned with extensive searches underway as forces suspect the presence of another terrorist who could be in an injured condition.
