Srinagar, Jul 29: Residents of 90-Feet Road Soura, have urged J&K Bank to install an Automated Teller Machine (ATM) at the branch located in their area, citing inconvenience due to the lack of basic cash withdrawal facilities.
The J&K Bank branch at 90-Feet Road, which was inaugurated in October 2024, has been catering to a large population from adjoining areas, but continues to function without an ATM. Residents say this shortcoming defeats the purpose of banking accessibility that the branch was meant to offer.
“We are grateful that the branch was opened, but the absence of an ATM has made even small cash withdrawals a hassle,” said Ghulam Nabi, a resident of Bilal Colony. “We have to travel either to Soura or Buchpora just to withdraw money.”
Parveena Akhtar, a homemaker, said senior citizens and women face particular difficulty. “It’s not easy for the elderly to stand in line inside the branch for routine withdrawals. An ATM is a basic necessity that every branch should have,” she said.
Local shopkeepers and daily wage earners also raised concerns, saying business hours don’t always align with branch timings.
The people of 90-Feet Road expressed hope that J&K Bank will consider their demand seriously and take steps to install an ATM at the earliest for the convenience of the public.
