Ganderbal, Aug 14: The current students of Central University of Kashmir’s Department of Physical Education rallied from a halftime deficit to defeat their alumni 5-2 in a spirited football match at the university’s Tullamulla campus.
The game began with both sides showing remarkable skill and competitive spirit. The alumni took the early advantage, scoring twice in the first half while conceding only one goal to the students, heading into halftime with a 2-1 lead.
However, the second half saw a turnaround. The current students returned to the field with determination, dominating possession and launching relentless attacks. Their cohesive teamwork and sharp finishing saw them net four goals in the second half, sealing a comprehensive 5-2 victory over the Alumni.
Dr Kaukab Azeem, Dr Abdul Roof Rather, Dr Mohammad Muqaram, and Dr Prathepa C S, were present on the occasion. Dr Mohammad Muzamil Shah, captain of the current student football team, lifted the winner’s trophy.
The match served as an initiative to strengthen ties between past and present students through sports and cultural exchanges. Organisers said such events foster camaraderie, encourage knowledge sharing, and keep the alumni engaged with the institution’s activities.
