
Ramban, Jan 9: The 84th Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the 2nd Battalion of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) conducted a joint disaster management exercise at the Tactical Headquarters of 84 Bn CRPF at Chanderkote, Ramban, to strengthen preparedness, coordination and response mechanisms in disaster-prone areas.
The exercise, as per a statement issued on Friday, was attended by Arvind Kumar Dixit, officiating Commandant 84 Bn, Roop Ram Meena, Asstt Cdt, Shree Ram Meena, Asstt Cdt, personnel of 84 Bn CRPF, the SDRF team and media personnel.
During the exercise, simulated situations based on flood, earthquake, fire emergency, evacuation procedures, search and rescue operations, first aid, medical response, relief management, etc, was carried out.
While speaking to the media, officiating Commandant 84 Bn stated that Ramban is a natural calamity-prone area. In the recent past, flash floods created havoc in the region. Rescue teams of 84 Bn CRPF, Army, Police and SDRF rushed to Rajgarh after a devastating landslide. For better preparedness, it is important to carry out such joint exercises regularly so that our response to disaster can be better coordinated and save more lives.
