SRINAGAR: Chief Minister and National Conference Vice-President Omar Abdullah has approved Rs 377.10 lakh under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) for a wide-ranging development package in Ganderbal, with a special focus on healthcare, education, infrastructure and community facilities.
Of the total allocation, Rs 67 lakh has been set aside for the installation of a high-end ultrasound machine at District Hospital (DH) Ganderbal, a facility expected to provide advanced diagnostic services locally and reduce the need for patients to travel outside the district.
Announcing the initiative in a social media post, Omar Abdullah said, “I’ve approved Rs 377.10 lakh under the CDF for Ganderbal to upgrade healthcare, education, roads and community facilities. Rs 67 lakh will go towards a high-end ultrasound at DH Ganderbal, ensuring advanced diagnostics and better services for our people so they no longer need to travel far for quality care.”
The package also includes funds for upgrading schools, improving roads, strengthening drainage systems, installing streetlights and developing community facilities. Officials said these measures aim to address pressing public needs and improve living standards in both urban and rural areas of the district.
Local education authorities welcomed the investment in schools, noting that improved infrastructure would contribute to a better learning environment for students. Public works officials highlighted that road and drainage upgrades would enhance accessibility and reduce seasonal flooding risks.
Community leaders in Ganderbal described the package as a “timely intervention” that directly responds to demands raised by residents in recent months.
The CDF-funded scheme is part of ongoing efforts to deliver development at the grassroots level and ensure essential services reach people’s doorsteps, officials added.
