SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly will conduct key business on Tuesday, February 3, including Question Hour, tabling of an ordinance, and discussion on the Motion of Thanks to the Lieutenant Governor’s Address. The House is scheduled to convene at 10:00 AM, with Question Hour as the first item on the agenda.

Chief Minister Omar Abdullah will present The Jammu and Kashmir Jan Vishwas (Amendment of Provisions) Ordinance, 2025 (Ordinance No. 01 of 2025) in the Assembly. Following this, the House will continue deliberations on the Motion of Thanks to the Lieutenant Governor’s Address delivered on February 2. The motion will be moved by MLA Showkat Hussain Ganie and seconded by Dr. Rameshwar Singh.

Several members have submitted amendments to the Motion of Thanks. CPM MLA Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has proposed amendments expressing concern over the lack of reference to the regularisation of daily wagers and casual workers, as well as the enhancement of honorarium for scheme workers.

BJP MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia has moved multiple amendments highlighting omissions related to the establishment of a National Law University in Jammu, restoration of flood‑damaged roads and bridges in Chenani, promotion of tourism at religious and tourist sites, restoration of water supply schemes, strengthening power infrastructure, and filling vacant positions in the education and health sectors.

PDP MLA Sajad Gani Lone has submitted amendments regretting the absence of strong condemnation of attacks on Kashmiri students and traders outside JK, the lack of assurance on regularisation of daily wagers, no commitment to create 100,000 government jobs, missing provisions for age relaxation and fee waivers for job aspirants, and no clarity on the location of the proposed National Law University in Ompora, Budgam.
