SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is set to introduce two major Bills focusing on governance reforms and social justice during the Legislative Assembly session on Wednesday.
According to the List of Business issued by the Legislative Assembly Secretariat, the House will convene on Wednesday, February 4, with proceedings scheduled to begin at 10 am.

One of the proposed legislations seeks to amend certain Union Territory laws to decriminalise and rationalise offences, with the objective of promoting trust-based governance and improving ease of living and doing business. The Bill, numbered LA Bill No 01 of 2026, has already been published in an extraordinary issue of the Official Gazette.
The second Bill, LA Bill No 02 of 2026, aims to amend existing enactments to remove discrimination and ensure equal treatment for persons affected by leprosy, enabling the Union Territory to fulfil its affirmative action obligations. This Bill has also been notified earlier through the Official Gazette.
Following the introduction of the Bills, the Assembly will resume discussion on the Motion of Thanks on the Lieutenant Governor’s Address, continuing the ongoing legislative proceedings.
