SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday called for a transparent and time-bound investigation into the killing of a suspected drug-peddler in Jammu city, stressing that police use of force must be measured and not “indiscriminate.”
A man identified as Mohd Parvez of Niki Tawi was killed, and another person was detained during a reported crossfire with police on Thursday. The police said they were chasing suspected drug-peddlers when the accused allegedly opened fire, leading to retaliatory action in which Parvez was killed.
