
SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah expressed “deep shock” over the explosion near Red Fort, which claimed multiple lives. In a statement shared on X by the Chief Minister’s Office, he extended condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the swift recovery of the injured.
Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also expressed anguish, saying he was “extremely pained” by the fatalities caused by the blast. “My deepest sympathies are with the families who lost their loved ones. I pray for the speedy recovery of those injured,” he said.
Ten people were killed and several others injured in a twin car blast near Delhi’s Red Fort Metro Station on Monday evening, triggering nationwide condemnation and condolences from top political leaders.
Earlier, Prime Minister Modi said he was “deeply pained” by the loss of lives in the explosion and assured that those affected were being assisted by authorities. “Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in the blast in Delhi earlier this evening. May the injured recover at the earliest. Those affected are being assisted by authorities. Reviewed the situation with Home Minister Amit Shah and other officials,” the Prime Minister said in a post on X.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh termed the incident “extremely painful and disturbing,” expressing solidarity with the bereaved families. “The blast in Delhi is deeply distressing. My heartfelt sympathies are with those who lost their loved ones. I pray for the early recovery of all those injured,” he said, adding that the tragedy demanded collective strength and support.
Initial reports indicate that the twin car blast left at least ten people dead, with several others admitted to nearby hospitals. Senior officials from the Delhi Police, National Security Guard (NSG), and National Investigation Agency (NIA) have reached the spot to assess the situation.
Authorities have urged citizens to remain calm as investigations continue, with the Delhi Police stating that all angles, including the possibility of a terror link, are being examined. Further details are awaited.
