Operation Sindoor is on pause. India has kept in suspended mode till the time Pakistan attempts another misadventure like Pahalgam massacre or any other attempt of cross-border terrorism. Pakistan is using this period, the duration of which all depends on its own behaviour ,to rebuild its military ties , particularly with China
A new twist has been given to their relationship in terms of technology, training and mutual cooperation : China is keen to learn from Pakistan .
Lieutenant General Wang Gang , chief of staff of the People’s Liberation Army ( PLA) Air Force, , during his meeting with Air Chief Marshall Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu of Pakistan Air Force ( PAF) , on Tuesday – July 8, 2025 – is quoted by Pakistan military services media outlet as saying,” Chinese air force was keen to learn from Pakistan’s battle-proven experience in multi-domain operations , a hallmark of modern air warfare .” The reference was four-day conflict with India in May.
India agreed to the May 10th ceasefire or understanding on its terms, but Pakistan is using this period of the standby ceasefire to prepare for another round with China solidly backing it .But both China and Pakistan are weaving a new narrative –Chinese praising Pakistan’s spirit of fighting an “ aggression “. Obviously , Pakistan is using this term for India, obliterating the fact of its terror attack on the Indian soil on April 22nd – killing 26 civilians , mostly tourists holidaying and merry making in Kashmir’s famous resort of Pahalgam .
The latest meeting of air chiefs of China and Pakistan in Islamabad is quite revealing . China has praised Pakistani air force and its pilots in the recent conflict with India . Even when it is known that China’s comments were a pep talk from a friendly country, the strategic contours and contents cannot be overlooked .
Pakistani air chief and Chinese CoS Air Force discussed “ operational synergy “ between the two forces . It is profound-impact-making statement . Operational synergy is next level to cooperation . The meaning is more than clear, and it should make the Indian strategists to think and work out possible responses to the emerging threat. A comprehensive reading of the statement would show what India is going to be up against in future.
During the meeting Wang received a detailed briefing on PAF’s modernized force structure and strategic initiatives , and appreciated for the “ high state of operational readiness and the cutting edge capabilities of the PAF.”
]The media reports also quoted the Chinese General “ praising the PAF’s performance during a recent conflict with India , calling it a text book example of precision, discipline and courage in the face of unprovoked aggression and commended the “ decisive and measured response delivered by PAF pilots.” And he also remarked : “ Chinese air force was keen to learn from Pakistan’s battle-proven experience in multi-domain operations , a hallmark of modern air warfare .”
China praising Pakistani air force is a surprise, because it is China training and guiding Pakistani forces in all spheres.
The Indian Army already has revealed that how China was guiding Pakistani armed forces all through the May 7 to 10 conflicts . This attribution made to Chinese Air Force Chief of staff is a clear attempt to downplay Beijing’s role in the four-day conflict .The methodology is to twist the facts – China is seeking to learn from Pakistan. This is not just a cover up of the role China played in Pakistan’s conflict with India , it reveals new strategic outlook which they are propagating to the world .
India should understand the newer strategies China and Pakistan are working together , because their whole planning is focused at India . Pakistan doesn’t deem any other country in the region as hostile , not even Afghanistan despite Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan ( TTP) and other groups having their bases there. China, which has developed a deep interest in Afghanistan , will not allow Pakistan to open a permanent conflict situation with its western neighbour.
Against this emerging scenario, India needs to retune its strategies. Neither China nor Pakistan is friends to India.. Ignoring even a single element of adversaries is not worth risk-taking
