
Jammu, Feb 21: The Special Crime Wing, Crime Branch Jammu has filed a charge-sheet in a land fraud case involving Rs 2 lakh, officials said on Saturday.
The charge-sheet was presented in FIR No. 13/2024 under Section 420 of the IPC against Rajinder Singh Manhas, a resident of Purkhoo Domana, Jammu. The case pertains to an alleged fraudulent land deal at revenue village Purkhoo Garhi.
According to the investigation, the accused had executed an agreement to sell dated April 1, 2022, for five marlas of land and received Rs 2,00,000 as advance payment out of a total sale consideration of RS 12,50,000. However, he allegedly failed to execute the sale deed within the stipulated time and was subsequently found to have no legal title or ownership over the land in question.
During the course of investigation, officials seized relevant documents, verified financial transactions through bank records, and conducted revenue verification through the concerned authorities. The revenue records confirmed that the land was not registered in the name of the accused. A forensic examination also corroborated the execution of the agreement by him.
Upon completion of the investigation, the charge-sheet was filed before the competent court by Inspector Deepak Bharti.
Senior Superintendent of Police, SCW Jammu, Sanjay Parihar, appealed to the general public to exercise caution while entering into property transactions. He advised citizens not to part with their hard-earned money without thoroughly verifying the title, ownership documents, and the credibility of the seller.
The Special Crime Wing reiterated its commitment to taking strict action against individuals involved in fraudulent property dealings and safeguarding the interests of the public.
