Ceremonial flag-off held in Srinagar for deployment of 45 Mountain Rescue Teams for SANJY-2025

Srinagar, June 24: Today a ceremonial flag-off event was held in the premises of the SDRF 1st Battalion, Srinagar, to Flag-off (45) Mountain Rescue Teams (MRTs) of concerned units of SDRF/NDRF/BSF/JKAP/CRPF/SSB including Homeguard volunteers for deployment in various designated stations/locations across both the axis of Pahalgam and Baltal for Shri Amarnth Ji Yatra (SANJY-2025).

The event was graced by the esteemed presence of S.J.M Geelani- DGP Coordination PHQ allended the ceremony as Chief Guest the event was also attended by Alok Kumar, IPS, Commandant General of Home Guards, Civil Defence & SDRF J&K/Director Fire and emergency Services J&K, Anand Jain-ADGP Armed, Vidhi Kumar Birdhi-IGP Kashmir, Ashok Yadav- IGP BSF Kashmir, Rajiv Omprakash-DIG- CKR, Shahid Mehraj- DIG Armed Kashmir, Junaid Mohmood-DIG IRP Kashmir, Sudheer Kumar-DIG CRPF R.K Angral-Director Homeguards
Kashmir Imtiyaz Hussain Mir-Director Civil Defence & SDRF Kashmir, Masroor Ahmad Mir -SSP (Commandant SDRF 1″ Bn. Srinagar), SDPO Sadar Meer Gafoor-and other senior officers of this Organisation.

During the ceremony, Alok Kumar addressed the MRT personnel, appreciating their dedication, courage and readiness to serve in challenging terrains. He emphasized the importance of their role in ensuring public safety, particularly in high-altitude and disaster-prone areas.

The Chief Guest, along with senior Officers, personally interacted with the MRT (Mountain Rescue teams) and inspected the Rescue Equipments and briefed the motivational words before the flag-off. The Commandant General of HG/CD & SDRF also expressed during his briefing to MRT Teams to facilitate Yatri Pilgrims in every step where they need help and remain at their service round the clock. The MRTs have been trained in specialized mountain rescue techniques, avalanche response and disaster relief operations to provide swift and efficient responses during emergencies.

This deployment marks a significant step in strengthening the disaster response infrastructure of the region and ensuring that trained manpower is available where it is needed. The event concluded with a formal flag-off, as the teams departed amidst applause and best wishes from the gathered officials and spectators.
