SRINAGAR: Taking cognisance of a viral video showing students from upper areas of Nandimarg in Kulgam crossing a stream to reach school, the Chief Education Officer (CEO) Kulgam visited the area on the directions of the Education Minister to assess the situation.
During the visit, it was observed that around 90 students were compelled to cross the flowing stream daily due to the absence of a bridge, raising serious safety concerns.
Acting promptly, authorities decided to shift Classes 9th and 10th to a newly constructed double-storey school building in the upper area of Nandimarg, where most of the students are enrolled.
To ensure continuity of education, three subject-specific teachers have been deployed at the new facility, enabling students to attend classes without risking their safety.
Officials said the arrangement has addressed the issue, and academic activities will now continue smoothly and safely for the affected students.
