Jammu, Jul 15: JKPCC Chief Tariq Hameed Karra today alleged that centre is delaying the restoration of statehood to J&K.
According to a press release , he was addressing a party meeting here. “Congress decided to intensify its statehood movement by holding protest demonstration in Jammu, Srinagar and Delhi in next few days , on the eve of Parliamentary session starting from July 21,”it added.
Karra said that Congress party has been protesting against the arbitrary, unconstitutional and undemocratic disbanding and downgrading of the historical state. “ We have been demanding its restoration from day one while we are carrying on a movement for the restoration of statehood since last year after the holding of Assembly elections on the directions of the Supreme Court,” he said.
Karra added that his party held series of protests, dharnas and public meetings all over J&K but the BJP led central government is silent on the promise made on the floor of the house and in the Supreme Court as well as public commitments during the assembly elections. This clearly indicates that the intention of the Centre not to grant early statehood to J&K.
