Jammu, Sep 21: Centre has approved 110 road works in Udhampur parliamentary constituency, at an estimated cost of around Rs 2,000 Cr, under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY-IV) batch-1 (2025-26). The works will provide road connectivity to 178 habitations, covering 751.44 kms in Udhampur constituency.

News of approval was conveyed by the Union Minister of Rural Development and Agriculture & Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan, in a communique made on September 17, 2025, to the Member Parliament from Udhampur-Doda-Kathua in Lok Sabha, Dr Jitendra Singh, who is also the Union Minister of State in PMO.

Chouhan also suggested the MP (Dr Jitendra) to provide guidance to the Union Territory to ensure the completion of these road projects on time without compromising on quality so that the benefits could percolate down to people.

Dr Jitendra extended gratitude to Chouhan through a post on social media, while sharing the heartening development along with the screen-shot of the letter of Chouhan.

“#Udhampur #Kathua #Doda Lok Sabha constituency: Thanks very much Respected Sh @ChouhanShivraj, Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare and Minister of Rural Development, for liberally approving 110 road works in my parliamentary constituency at an estimated cost of around Rs 2,000 crore under PMGSY-4 Batch-1 (2025-26), with the promise of more to come…”, Dr Jitendra posted.

Earlier Chouhan, in his communication to MP Udhampur, said, “Under PMGSY-IV Batch-I (2025-26), the Government of India has approved 110 road works, covering 751.44 kms in Udhampur (Udhampur-Doda-Kathua) parliamentary constituency, at an estimated cost of Rs 1955.65 Cr, which will provide road connectivity to 178 habitations.”

He (Chouhan) exuded confidence that the sanctioned roads would not only strengthen the infrastructure in rural areas but also contribute significantly to the socio-economic development of the region.

“For successful implementation, it is essential that construction proceeds swiftly and that quality is ensured effectively so that the public can benefit from these roads for a long time,” the Union Minister of Rural Development noted. “I would be grateful, if, in your capacity as a public representative, you could provide necessary guidance to the Union Territory to ensure that these road projects are completed on time without compromising on quality,” he suggested to Dr Jitendra.
