Srinagar: A man from Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district is among those killed in Monday’s devastating car explosion near Delhi’s Red Fort, an incident that claimed 13 lives and left at least 20 others injured.
SSP Khalil Poswal said that local authorities are in touch with their counterparts in Delhi. “It has been established that one individual from the Kangan area succumbed to injuries sustained in the Delhi blast. The identification is being formally verified as investigations progress,” he told Kashmir Life.
The explosion occurred at 6:52 pm when a slow-moving Hyundai i20 detonated near the historic monument. Eyewitnesses recounted scenes of chaos, with mangled bodies, shattered glass, and damaged vehicles scattered across the area.
Preliminary findings suggest the involvement of Dr. Umar Nabi, who died in the blast and is believed to have been linked to a network suspected of planning terror attacks. In connection with the case, nine individuals, including a few medical professionals, have been arrested so far.
Investigative agencies continue to examine the circumstances that led to the explosion, verify the identities of all victims, and assess the scale and intentions of the suspected network behind the incident.
