Jammu, Jul 5: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against a Sub Inspector (SI) of Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP), posted at R S Pura Police Station, who escaped the central agency’s trap laid by CBI sleuths to arrest him while accepting bribe money.

As the official managed to flee, the family and relatives of the complainant held a protest demonstration seeking his immediate arrest.

According to the Police, the incident occurred on Friday evening when the CBI team laid a trap to catch SI Bashir Ahmad Malik, who was investigating a murder case and was allegedly demanding a bribe to remove the name of one of the accused from the charge-sheet from his (accused’s) family.

Accused’s family complained to the CBI, which laid a trap to nab the official on Friday. However, before he could be arrested, the official got suspicious of CBI’s presence and fled from the spot.

His fleeing action was captured on CCTV camera and it went viral also.
