SRINAGAR: Police in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district have solved a burglary case reported in the Hanjiwera area and arrested the accused involved in the commission of the offence.

According to police, on April 10, 2026, Police Station Pattan received a written complaint from a resident of Khore Sheerabad stating that during the intervening night of April 5–6, 2026, unknown persons broke open the rear window of his shop located at Hanjiwera on the National Highway and decamped with grocery items, a gas cylinder, and other valuables. Following the complaint, a case was registered under relevant sections of law and investigation was initiated.

During the course of investigation, the crime scene was examined, a site plan was prepared, and statements of witnesses were recorded. Through sustained efforts, police identified and apprehended a suspect, Muzaffar Ahmad Dar of Hanjiwera, for questioning.

During interrogation, the accused allegedly confessed to his involvement in the offence and disclosed that the stolen items had been concealed in a tin shed at his residence. Acting on his disclosure, police recovered stolen property including a gas cylinder, tea packets, rice, batteries, a cutter, wire, and other items.

Further investigation in the case is underway. Police reiterated its commitment to maintaining law and order and ensuring the safety and security of the general public.
