SRINAGAR: Apni Party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari on Sunday expressed hope that Education Minister Sakina Itoo’s assurance about the temporary nature of the government’s takeover of Falah-e-Aam Trust (FAT) schools will be honoured in practice.

In a post on X, Bukhari said the move should be backed by action and not remain “merely words.” He urged the government to ensure that, even during the interim period, the schools are run by “qualified educationists and professionals rather than administrative authorities.”

He stressed that the future of thousands of students, along with the careers of teaching and non-teaching staff, must not be compromised.

Bukhari further appealed to the government not to politicise the issue, noting that FAT schools are directly linked to public sentiments. “This matter cannot and should not be used as a tool for political gain or to settle political scores,” he said.
