
Srinagar, Dec 26: The Department of Minimal Access and General Surgery, Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar, hosted the ‘3rd Surgical Electives Competition’ aimed at nurturing surgical aptitude and research enthusiasm among undergraduate medical students.
A statement of GMC Srinagar issued here said that the event was held under the guidance of the Head of the Department of Surgery, Prof Iqbal Saleem Mir.
The event was attended by the Head Department of Urology, Prof Syed Sajjad Nazir, Head Department of Medicine, Prof Rakesh Kumar Kaul and Prof Muzaffar Maqbool of the Department of Medicine, besides the enthusiastic participation of faculty members from various specialities, postgraduate residents, and MBBS students, reflecting the department’s commitment to interdisciplinary learning and academic excellence. A highlight of the event was the award ceremony, where undergraduate MBBS students were recognised for their outstanding presentations and innovative thinking. The winners were felicitated with cash prizes as a token of appreciation for their efforts. Saniya Malik won the first prize, Maliha Bilal the second prize, and Wasiq Farooq the third prize.
The surgical electives competition continues to serve as a platform for young medical minds to engage in scholarly discourse, showcase their talents, and inspire a culture of inquiry and innovation within the medical fraternity.
