Bolster security, deploy anti-sabotage teams along Yatra route: DGP

Jammu, June 28: Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat Saturday asked the officers to bolster security measures and mitigate potential risks by deploying anti-sabotage teams along Shri Amarnath yatra routes.

He also directed the officers to enhance surveillance and threat detection capabilities by utilizing advanced technologies and real-time monitoring.

DGP issued these directions in a high-level review meeting of the officers of Jammu and Kashmir Police; Army; CAPF; intelligence agencies and civil administration at Convention Centre, Canal Road, Jammu.The meeting aimed at taking stock of the security arrangements and administrative preparedness for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2025 (SANJY-2025).

During the meeting, DGP issued directions for implementing the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and also emphasized the importance of proactive measures in mitigating risks and ensuring the safety and security of the participants. He also directed the field officers to intensify their efforts to dismantle the terror ecosystem, ensuring robust security arrangements for the upcoming Yatra.

The 38-day-long yatra is scheduled to start on July 3. The first batch of pilgrims will leave for Kashmir from the Jammu-based Bhagwati Nagar base camp, a day before the start of the Yatra.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu zone Bhim Sen Tuti; IG BSF Jammu sector Shashank Anand; Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar; DIG Traffic Jammu Dr Haseeb Mughal; DIG JSK Range Shiv Kumar Sharma; SSP Jammu Joginder Singh and senior officers of 16 Corps and 26 Division of Army, JKP, CAPFs, intelligence agencies, telecom, NSG and civil administration attended the meeting.

At the onset of the meeting, the participating officers briefed the DGP regarding the proposed security arrangements for the conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2025 emphasizing the significance of effective coordination among the various forces.

SSP Jammu gave a detailed PPT and briefed on various aspects of the security deployments and facilitation of the Yatris within the Jammu district for upcoming SANJY-25 including security arrangements at various lodgement centres; registration centres; token centres across the Jammu district.

He also briefed regarding innovative initiatives including FRS (Facial Recognition System); anti-drone measures taken to further strengthen the security grid and ensure safe, secure and smooth SANJY-25. Senior officers from Army, CAPFs, intelligence agencies and various wings of J&K also briefed regarding the arrangements in place for SANJY-25. During the meeting, DGP also held discussion with all the nodal officers concerned with the yatra.

Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar highlighted the measures taken by the administration for smooth conduct of upcoming Yatra, especially the arrangements made to provide boarding and lodging facilities for pilgrims at various lodgement centres across the Jammu region.

A total of 106 lodgement centres have been set up for the purpose. Div Com Jammu showed his satisfaction regarding coordination among various stakeholders for smooth conduct of Yatra. The meeting concluded with a resolve to ensure the highest level of preparedness and coordination for the smooth and successful conduct of the upcoming Yatra.
