SRINAGAR: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accused the Omar Abdullah-led government in Jammu and Kashmir of administrative negligence, alleging that the failure to appoint a permanent Chairman to the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) for nearly a year was jeopardising students’ academic futures.

In a statement, the BJP said the prolonged absence of a regular head at JKBOSE reflected poorly on governance and raised serious questions about accountability within the education administration. The party asked why a permanent appointment had not been made despite the passage of almost twelve months.

The BJP further questioned who would be held responsible if students’ careers suffered due to what it described as sustained administrative uncertainty at the board.

Alleging political interference, the party claimed the delay was deliberate and accused the government of attempting to accommodate close associates rather than appointing a competent and deserving candidate on merit.

Describing the situation as more than a routine delay, the BJP said it highlighted misplaced priorities and undue political influence in key educational institutions, warning that such practices were harmful to the interests of lakhs of students.

The party demanded the immediate appointment of a full-time JKBOSE Chairman, cautioning that continued inaction would further expose what it termed as misgovernance and political favouritism.
