Kupwara: The Bharatiya Janata Party Kashmir Media In-Charge, Advocate Sajid Yousuf Shah, on Monday accused the National Conference of misleading the people of Jammu and Kashmir by presenting what he described as a visionless budget in the Legislative Assembly.
Addressing a press conference in Kupwara, Shah said the budget fails to present a clear and credible roadmap for the overall development of the region. He alleged that the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has attempted to create a false narrative by projecting centrally sponsored schemes as fresh initiatives under the Union Territory budget.
Shah said the budget does not reflect public aspirations and ignores key developmental priorities. According to him, the document lacks substance and does not address issues that directly affect the daily lives of people, including employment generation, infrastructure gaps, and long-pending welfare concerns.
He further alleged that the National Conference has failed to honour the commitments it made to the electorate before assuming power. The ruling party, he said, has fallen short on governance delivery and has not translated promises into measurable outcomes on the ground.
Reiterating the BJP’s position, Shah said his party remains committed to the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir at an appropriate time and in the larger interest of the people. He added that this commitment has been consistent and clearly stated by the party leadership.
The BJP leader urged the ruling dispensation to stop what he termed as public misrepresentation and instead focus on transparent governance, accountability, and genuine development. He said meaningful progress can only be achieved through honest policy formulation and effective implementation.
