SRINAGAR: The Baramulla-Uri National Highway will remain temporarily closed at Danakha Mode and near NS Bridge in Uri on January 11 in view of hill cutting work and apprehensions of landslides, officials said on Friday.

According to an order issued by the Additional District Magistrate Baramulla, the road will remain shut at Danakha Mode at Design Chainage 65+600 and NS Bridge, Uri at Design Chainage 102+800 from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm on Sunday.

The closure has been ordered following a request from the Officer Commanding, 53 RCC (GREF), who informed the district administration that hill cutting work is scheduled at the two locations, posing potential risks to commuters.

The order noted that minor landslides have occurred in the recent past on the said stretch, making it necessary to impose temporary traffic restrictions in the interest of public safety.

The administration has advised commuters to avoid unnecessary travel on the Baramulla-Uri road during the specified hours and to follow traffic advisories issued by the authorities. (KNC)
